Emergency NHS demonstration 03/02/2018

Message sent to the NEU Newham Secretary:

We’re very pleased to announce that the Daily Mirror & Sunday Mirror are the latest to come on board and officially back the emergency NHS demonstration next week.

Tens of thousands will march for our NHS next Saturday in an emergency demonstration called by The People’s Assembly & Health Campaigns Together. The demonstration will demand an end the winter crisis with a cash injection to restore the NHS budget and a commitment to increased funding each year.

Emergency Demonstration – NHS in Crisis: Fix it Now

Saturday 3 February, 12pm Gower Street London, March to Downing Street

Everyday from now until the demo they’ll be running stories on why the NHS demonstration is so important including interviews from the front line, details of the route and speakers, quotes from organisers, union representatives, celebs and more.

Why are you marching?
We’re asking for people to send in a short quote (under 100 words) about why they’re marching and what the NHS means to them – we’ll include a selection of quotes in the Mirror and use others on our website and on social media. Please also include a headshot of yourself in the email. Send these to:

Message from The People’s Assembly:

London Demo
6:00pm – 7:30pm
Tuesday 21 November

Opposite Downing Street

The Government will outline their spending in the Budget. The People’s Assembly is calling for protests the day before Phillip Hammond announces it to demand the Government scrap their plans for Universal Credit, to close tax loopholes and force the tax avoiders to pay their fair share, to end the public sector pay cap with an increase above inflation, and to make sure our public services are properly funded.

At all of the events across the country, we are also collecting food for foodbanks so they are stocked to deal with the fallout from the Universal Credit crisis and the continuing drop in living standards this Government is responsible for.

Coach to Manchester to lobby Conservative Party Conference Sunday 1st October

Message received:

Dear All
As last year we are sponsoring the East London coach to lobby the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester on Sunday 1st October. The NHS remains high on the political agenda and there will be a good national turnout by NHS campaigns. (I hope the route is better than last year!!)

I shall bring the banner and we have new tabards you can buy if you want to look corporate!!. The coach will pick up from Mile End at 6.15am, Stratford Station at 6.30pm and Ilford Hill at 6.45am. It will return and make 3 similar stops at about 10pm. A long day but is usually fun

Costs are £25 waged, £15 unwaged and a donation for anyone who needs help with the costs. There are union funds to top up these costs.

With regards
