National Demonstration – A new deal for working people

TUC March & Rally 12/05/2018. Colour poster with date and workers' faces. Gold coloured background.Tens of thousands will join a major national demonstration next Saturday organised by the TUC. The People’s Assembly is very pleased to support this demonstration which will be demanding an end to austerity and better rights for all in the workplace.

National Demonstration – A new deal for working people
Saturday 12 May, 11am Victoria Embankment
March to Hyde Park

Why are we marching? Because real wages are still lower than before the crash in 2008. Because three million workers are stuck on zero hour contracts, in agency work and in low paid self-employment. Because hardworking public servants haven’t had a proper payrise for eight years. Because our NHS is at breaking point. And because years of cuts have led to poverty, homelessness and despair for too many.

We’re marching for the alternative. For a growing economy with great jobs in every nation and region of the UK. For a £10ph minimum wage and the right to a voice at work. For public services that are brilliant, funded and free at the point of use. And for a society that roots out racism, sexism and discrimination.

TUC Demonstration – A New Deal For Education: Saturday 12 May

Message from NEU Officers’ eBulletin

Join us on 12 May and march behind our massive new NEU ‘Invest. Don’t cut’ inflatables which will be getting their first outing.

We want to get a huge crowd of teachers, as well as parents and supporters, together to demand A New Deal For Education. This means schools which are properly funded and where staff are paid fairly for the hard work they do; schools where teachers are valued and trusted as professionals and where creativity is encouraged above teaching to the test.

The march will form up from 11am on Embankment before moving off at midday and ending with a rally in Hyde Park. Confirmed speakers include Labour Party leader, Jeremy Corbyn MP and Kevin Courtney.

Please do all you can to encourage members from your area to attend this important and exciting event.

Anti-Austerity Demo 21/11/2017 18h00

Message from The People’s Assembly:

London Demo
6:00pm – 7:30pm

Opposite Downing Street
Whitehall
London

The Government will outline their spending in the Budget. The People’s Assembly is calling for protests the day before Phillip Hammond announces it to demand the Government scrap their plans for Universal Credit, to close tax loopholes and force the tax avoiders to pay their fair share, to end the public sector pay cap with an increase above inflation, and to make sure our public services are properly funded.

At all of the events across the country, we are also collecting food for foodbanks so they are stocked to deal with the fallout from the Universal Credit crisis and the continuing drop in living standards this Government is responsible for.
