Coach to Manchester to lobby Conservative Party Conference Sunday 1st October

Message received:

Dear All
As last year we are sponsoring the East London coach to lobby the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester on Sunday 1st October. The NHS remains high on the political agenda and there will be a good national turnout by NHS campaigns. (I hope the route is better than last year!!)

I shall bring the banner and we have new tabards you can buy if you want to look corporate!!. The coach will pick up from Mile End at 6.15am, Stratford Station at 6.30pm and Ilford Hill at 6.45am. It will return and make 3 similar stops at about 10pm. A long day but is usually fun

Costs are £25 waged, £15 unwaged and a donation for anyone who needs help with the costs. There are union funds to top up these costs.

With regards

Ron.

Meeting 11/10/2017: London NUT Women’s Network

Our Bodies, Our Choice: the Abortion Act 50 Years On
by London NUT Women’s Network supported by the TUC and Abortion Rights

Date and Time
Wed, October 11, 2017
18h30 to 20h30

Venue
NUT, Hamilton House

Description
It is 50 years since the passing of the 1967 Abortion Act which gave most women in the UK access to safe abortions. We are meeting to celebrate the passing of this Act but also to build the campaign to improve women’s rights to abortion.
Women in Northern Ireland are still not covered by the Act and many women across the UK are still obstructed by poor access and cuts to reproductive rights services. It is also the case that abortion is only available on the authorisation of two doctors and, without this, it is still a criminal act.
We know that worldwide millions of women do not have access to safe abortion and thousands of women die.
Globally, the rights we have won are under threat. Come and hear from experts and campaigners about what we’ve won and what is still to fight for.
This meeting will be a rallying call to act.
Confirmed speakers:
Caitlin de Jode, London Irish Abortion Rights Campaign,
Kerry Abel, Abortion Rights
Dr Marilyn Thomson, specialist on abortion rights in Latin America
Diana Johnson MP
Supported by Trades Union Congress, Abortion Rights, Marie Stopes UK
There will also be stalls from Humanists UK, Abortion Support Network and Bookmarks
