News from NEU HQ:
Education unions in Ghana have spoken out against the Ghanaian governments attempts to privatise and commercialise the public education sector. This comes after the announcement of the pilot ‘Ghana Partnership Schools’ programme, described by the unions as ‘a subtle and potential privatisation, commercialisation and commodification of public education in Ghana with the approval of the government.’ Read more on Education International’s website.

Can you help us make the #NoRacismNoFascism event a success? Two ways you can volunteer:
1. Help us get ready!
On Thursday 14 & Friday 15 March we will be making placards for the London Stand Up To Racism demonstration from 9am to 6pm each day. Similar meet ups will be going on in Cardiff and Glasgow.
We are aiming to make over 3000 placards for the London march. With your help, we can do it! If you can spare a few hours that’d be much great.
If you can help in London, or want to get involved in helping with the demos in Cardiff and Glasgow email email@example.com
2. Help us steward on the day!
Stewards/volunteers roles are varied; from giving out placards, to helping on stalls, helping with a financial collection and of course, ensuring the march is safe and accessible for all.
On Thursday 14 March there will be a stewards/volunteers meeting at the TUC head offices, details here
Chief stewards will introduce the meeting on Thursday. Even if you can’t make the Thursday volunteers/stewards meeting please don’t think you can’t get involved. There will be a meet up for volunteers/stewards on the Saturday morning of the demonstration at 10am at the assembly point.

TODAY: #WorldAgainstRacism day of action
Today is a big day for anti-racists!
Today two important strands of the anti-racist movement will be mobilising for the Stand Up To Racism demonstrations taking place this Saturday, 16 March, in London, Cardiff and Glasgow:
Love Music Hate Racism will be launching their #BeautifulResistance campaign , where some of the world’s biggest music artists will be showing their support for unity over division.
The Trades Union Congress (TUC) and its affiliated unions will be spreading a message of #Unions4Unity and #WorldAgainstRacism in support of the demonstrations.
The demonstrations are part of an international day of action , with events taking place across the globe from New York to Budapest.
Here’s how you can join the day of action today:
Can you do a “selfie” at college or at work supporting the demo?
Can you get a leafleting of your college/workplace/community?
Can you take a collection or donate to help fund the demo?
If you can take photos of what you do, tweet them and post them on social media tagging in @AntiRacismDay and use the hashtags #NoRacismNoFascism #Unions4Unity #WorldAgainstRacism #BeautifulResistance.
